This architect's own home of 18 years, a place to raise his two kids, and a space to enjoy Los Angeles.
With a big assist from my ex and our two kids, and a host of hard-working subs, this modest house on a typical LA lot became something new. A house with more than enough space yet not one to dwarf the neighbors. A house that is contemporary, speaking to today's understanding of architecture, without throwing shade on yesterday's. A house that blends old and new. A serene home in a busy and sometimes crazy urban scene.
With the kids grown and the marriage complete, it was time to move on. The views from the second floor never get old. Light spills into the house at all times of day. This home is a sundial that the seasons cast upon. Working since 2005 out of an office space in the detached garage, my dogs and I will not soon forget the sound of the wind in the trees, the songs of the birds, and the seemingly bottomless supply of oranges, avocados, and lemons. A peaceful space.
Now time for the next family to write their story here!
