Rebar at the CMU wall, 'swinmming pool' foundation (deeper than it looks :)
The long view of the CMU wall footing.
The CMU wall footing all poured up - more than a couple of truck loads of concrete. The first course of CMU are in place. It took the sub four tries to set out the first course correctl!?!
The big footing is done ... now for the rest of the house. These footings and grade beamsĀ (footings that span beween piles like a beam) will be the second big pour of the job. The finally and third pour will be the exposed, finish slab-on-grade.
A nice green slab, freshly poured, in the living room. The sub stripped off the formwork early to smooth out the interior face of the wall.
Finishing off the top of the stem wall.
More finish work plus solid grouting the CMU wall.
Grouting the CMU wall. Note that the rebar is being placed in the wall after the cells are grouted. The sub did this for ease of construction but it is the wrong way none the less - rebar laps or 'splices' are supposed to be tied with metal wire so that the loads transfer properly.
The other side of the living room ...
