A view of the finished stair (minus treads and handrail) from the 2nd floor.
And one from the west side, looking to what will be the entry door.
All the services (ducts, water lines, etc.) fit in the soffit as designed.
The entry stair metal work finished; all ground smooth and shop primed. The finish coat of paint will come just before the treads and handrails are installed.
Up close and personal with the tread support to stringer connection.
A fun shot - solid on the right (sheathed up) and transparent on the left!
For the windows, a strong seal all around the frame is important; most vulnerable of all is the sill. Here a galvanized sheet metal water dam over a base layer of building paper will keep the wall dry for decades.
The third (but not final) layer of waterproofing around the jambs, head, and sill of the window openings is a peal-and-stick waterproof membrane. More to come!
In go the custom window frames - with another layer of waterproof flashing along the jambs and head. Ready for the aluminum window!
Here is what the window frame in its sheet metal water dam looks like from the interior. High and dry.
