Welcome to the non-Euclidian world of Eric Owen Moss!
A truly brilliant architect, Eric designs some of the most difficult spaces to draw (to say nothing of to build!) of any architect, living or dead. Stuart had the luck to be in the office during a big push to build works that Eric had been developing over several years with his patrons, Frederic Norton Smith and Laurie Samitaur Smith. The three projects pictured here - the Beehive, the Umbrella, and What Wall - are projects Stuart had a significant role detailing. Stuart was also involved with Stealth, Slash and Backslash, the Box, and Pterodactyl garage. In the end, the main lesson Stuart learner from Eric was the necessity of continually looking, and continually critiquing one's own work. Eric's rigour is amazing and inspiring!
Although Stuart's time working for Eric was short - just over two years - the lessons learned stick with him to this day.
