Designed 02.2006, unrealized
Designed for an extremely steep site high in the Hollywood Hills, this house takes advantage of its unique locale. Views that swing from the Pacific Ocean to Downtown LA to the Griffith Observatory are heightened by the arrangement of openings. A flat roof becomes an elevated landscape planted with native grasses. Natural, vertical ventilation starts low in each space [through low awning windows] and exits high [through the central skylight]. This allows for screenless vision glass above the awing window. Solar panels on the east facade and the north roof generate electricity and shade the structure.
