A long and skinny home on one of Hermosa Beach's typical long and skinny lots (25' x 100'!)
Taking advantage of the favorable and near due southern orientation of the the lot, this home embraces the 'South Bay' climate. Light filled rooms, ample cross ventilation, and clear connections to the outdoors make the home feel a piece with the land. Thin cedar boards in a rainscreen facade form the east and west elevations, while the north and south are clad in cement plaster. Copper gutters and downspouts and a solar panel covered metal roof add detail. Even while allowing for three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and a home office, the home makes space for significant exterior spaces. The front yard landscape speaks to the beach with two King palm trees in a sand and beach grass lawn. The rear yard includes a grass lawn, three fruit trees, a rose garden, and camellias along the 'dark' north sideyard. Made for entertaining, the home opens to the rear yard with a smooth transition to an outdoor dinning space and an outdoor kitchen. A roof top deck presents views of the Pacific Ocean and Palos Verdes peninsula.
This home shows Hermosa how to live at the beach!
