The evolution of this property has been incremental and also profound. The project started with the desperate need for more space to accommodate two growing kids. So the first task was to renovate and expand the main house. A beautiful chef's kitchen and bespoke bathrooms followed. Landscaping and hardscape work on the grounds happened piece meal over the next couple of years. An ADU was considered, designed and even permitted but shelved at the last minute (see linked page above).
The big break though came when an adjoining property became available. The Owner's seized the opportunity to dramatically expand the scope of the backyard. A glamorous pool was the result, sun drenched and yet private in the Hollywood tradition. We expanded the existing residence to serve as guest quarters for the Owner's extended family and also a place for the husbands Hollywood score composing work to happen. He loves the commute.
We were able to have the same general contractor for the entire effort. Contributions by an excellent landscape architect helped polish the outdoor rooms to the level the interior rooms enjoyed. And as it is only possible to do good work with great clients, the Owners were engaged, demanding and supportive. A team as good as this is a rarity, one that each of us enjoyed immensely.
